Teeth Whitening in Gatineau
What is Professional Teeth Whitening?
As we get older, our teeth naturally become darker due to staining and discolouration, both internally and on the surface. Several factors contribute to this change in colour, such as:
- Foods and beverages like tea, coffee, and red wine
- Smoking
- Dental hygiene upkeep
- Accidents
Depending on your situation, professional teeth whitening can be a safe and effective option for brightening your smile. The procedure is straightforward, non-invasive, and works by targeting and removing stains to lighten your natural tooth colour.
Take-home Teeth Whitening for Your Convenience
Our goal is to help you achieve a whiter, brighter smile. Our take-home teeth whitening kits allow you to do this from the comfort of your home.
In-Office Teeth Whitening
At our Gatineau clinic, we offer a teeth whitening option that can safely, efficiently, and effectively whiten your teeth. How does it work? First, a protective barrier is placed around your gums, followed by the application of a thin layer of whitening gel on each tooth. After completing the treatment, you should notice a visible improvement in the whiteness of your teeth.
Personalized Take-Home Teeth Whitening
You can also achieve a brighter, whiter smile from the comfort of your home with our at-home whitening system. If you opt for the take-home treatment, we start by taking impressions of your teeth to create custom whitening trays. You’ll then apply a whitening gel to the trays and wear them as directed. After completing the treatment, you should notice an improvement in the whiteness of your teeth!

-
How long do the effects of teeth whitening last?
Whitening results are not permanent. Drinks like coffee and wine, as well as foods containing turmeric, can cause staining. The duration of whitening effects can vary depending on your diet, with some people experiencing longer-lasting results than others. With proper oral care, you may only need a touch-up after about a year.
-
Does insurance cover the cost of teeth whitening?
Dental insurance does not typically cover the cost of teeth whitening.
-
Does teeth whitening make teeth more sensitive?
A common short-term side effect of teeth whitening is increased sensitivity. For the majority of patients, this sensation typically subsides within a few days after the treatment. To reduce any discomfort, we suggest using an anti-sensitivity toothpaste both before your whitening session and for at least two weeks afterward.
-
Do teeth whitening products work on all stains?
Typically, brown, and yellow-coloured stains respond best to teeth whitening treatments. Some stains tend not to respond to whitening treatments at all. If having a whiter smile is important to you but your teeth have non-responsive stains, your dentist may recommend other cosmetic treatments such as dental crowns or veneers that may be a better fit for you.
-
Does teeth whitening work on dental restorations?
Unfortunately, teeth whitening only works on natural teeth and does not work on existing dental restorations, such as crowns or veneers. If dental restorations are part of your treatment plan, teeth whitening should take place before you receive the restoration.
-
Will teeth whitening damage my tooth enamel?
When used under the supervision of a qualified dentist, teeth whitening is very unlikely to damage your dental enamel. Always consult with your dentist to ensure you are using any teeth whitening products safely. If you experience any pain, sensitivity, or discomfort anywhere in your mouth, let your dentist know right away. Even if it’s not related to whitening, they will be able to help.
