Periodontics & Gum Therapy
What is Gum Disease?
Gum disease, also known as periodontal disease, is an infection of the supporting tissues of the teeth. It is most often caused by poor dental hygiene habits that allow plaque to build up on the teeth and harden, affecting the gums.
When gum disease isn't treated early on, it can lead to oral health problems, such as inflamed and bleeding gums, receding gums, bacteria-filled pockets between the teeth and gums, and possible bone loss.
Periodontal treatment methods depend on the type and severity of the disease. Our dentists will work with you to create a treatment plan.
